Firefly

Focus eye
Green and darting
At the parting

Of the day.
Fly away.
Qu’est ce que c’est?

The longing light
That comes with night
Hides in the morn
Finds another form.

Another ray,
A different way
To change your mind.
Then you’ll find

A darker patch
To shine
Your loping, lucky sign.
So bob and jab,

Twist and grab
The air in tangles
Through left right angles,
Warm and soggy

Burping, froggy
Seething sawgrass.
Bet yer sweet ass
Someone cares

How you glow the air

What’s in store?
Evermore
What’s behind?
Nevermind

Leave the crippled
Cankerous nipple.
Follow fortune
Like a scorpion,

Shifting sand
Hunting and
Meet it’s purpose.
A cycle circus.

Burn it down,
The sullen frown
That you live in
Underground.

Rise up.
Drink the cup
Of inspiration
Veneration.

Spin within it.
Not another minute
In bandaged blanket.
That boat, They sank it.

Collapsed into river.
Drowning, drank it,
Cling to Driftwood
And Floating hope

To see the sea,
A slippery slope

Like a moth
To the bulb
Flaps translucent wings,
I hover above insignificant things.

Scratching and pressing
To just let me in.
To bake and to broil
All of my skin.

Enfold me in light,
Hot and blinding.
Peel off the surface,
Dull and reminding.

Layer on layer,
Tea tree tissue paper
Floating on trade winds.
Natural napkins.

Open sores of a puzzle,
Clotted and dabbed.
Pink orange pustules.
Maroon ochre scabs,

Hissing and sizzling
Dripping and drizzling,
Tender for picking
Clean off of the bone.

Pulling and crackling,
Calling me home.
After the stench
Hangs sour in the air,

This world won’t remember
My deep shadow there.
The heart of the matter

Let go of the care.

Look in the mirror.
One thing seems clearer.
There’s nothing to fear
From words you don’t hear.

Follow your compass.
Stray from the campus.
The longer you love us,
Divine the Dianthus.

Oral tradition
Roams far from the Mission,
On burros and Horses
Fexofenadine forces.

Fine fragile faces
Find forever in traces
Of work from the past
Made to outlast

This mortal suspension.
The portal pretension
Holds keys to beyond
The wave of a wand.

The work of a hand
Carves pictures in sand.
To understand why
We try and we try.

Splinters

Walk between the raindrops.
Step out from the bus stops.
Catch your death, then call the cops.
I’ve touched the bottom and it’s tops.

Wallow in your welcome.
Pluck a plinky plectrum.
See colors in perfect spectrum.
Powder your skin in talcum.

Why waste what wills you?
This scene of musty mildew
Makes a pasty breakthrough.
You walked in grace when he loved you.

Honest, I’m a morbid cow
To tell the truth, I can’t tell you how
To go on breaking a broken vow,
Or swallow the ache within you now.

Let’s go dancing on this lovely day,
Notwithstanding our feet in clay.
Once was chanting, now hooray.
Some things you shouldn’t have to say.

It came between us, now carved in stone.
The Birth of Venus stands so alone.
An empty vessel once her throne.
A train on trestle still wrestles to roam.

Walk with me and we'll let things lie.
Pull the splinters from our judging eyes
