Paper town
Paper strings
Empty pages
Quiet things

Passing through,
On your way.
Nothing new
Here to stay.

Just keep going.
Shoo fly shoo.
Not worth knowing.
Peek a boo.

They see you looking,
Hide their eyes.
No nursery rhymes
Or lullabies.

They will remember.
Maybe you will.
A new adventure
Even still.

Don't taunt or tease them.
Try to be kind.
It's best to ease them
From your mind.

Deep Six

Tippy tippy tap.
You've finally snapped your cap.
I think I heard a ghost.
Calling coast to coast.

I somehow lost my friends
And now I've got the bends.
It's coming up so fast.
You can't outswim your past.

Their shadows looming cold
Just twenty two years old.
Deep six, full fathom five.
It's time to look alive.

The bottom, waits for me.
The coral I can see
Why they call me home,
Beneath the green sea foam.

A knocking at the door.
Wishy washy floor.
Ok, I'm coming down.
Today, I'm finally found.

At once, not too far back
A light flash turned to black.
Beneath the curling waves.
No one to tend to the graves.

Now has come the day,
The one that got away.
A hole that needs a patch
A diver, down the hatch.

A feeling, here it comes.
So long, so lost, I've won.
I know it has to be
My conscience waits for me.

Man of My Dreams

What just went down,
I can't figure out.
Under this town
Inside of the dark.

Is this a dream
Or beginner's luck?
An old lady's scheme
That now runs amok.

I got a nice girl.
You've got all the time
To reinvent and unfurl
Yourself in your prime.

Can't ever go back,
Just try to fulfill.
Across all the tracks
And follow God's will.

They always admire
How far we have come,
Won't ever retire.
Immortal to some.

Project our best traits
On those that go sparking.
Right out of the gates,
Hell bent on skylarking.

Listen here, Walter,
I mean you no harm.
That's ok, Alan,
Keep twisting my arm.

Not You, It's Me

Play me out
Like some drunken swami.
What won't kill me,
Might just disarm me.

What is with you
Melting igloos.
Take up fishing.
Take up with a musician.

Take your time.
Three turns to unwind.
Fall back into
Kinky and kind.

Whatever spares you.
Urgent cares you.
The greener grass
Always up your ass.

I'll be fine.
A new design,
A curvy line,
With fine French wine.

Barking time
And boiling water.
No longer mine.
Don't make an offer.

Leave a message
If you're so inclined,
But don't expect me
To seek and not find.

Off we go
Into lovely promise.
I'm a pro,
Currently o

Bowling For Dollars

Listen Agnes, you need my help.
This ticket taking isn't going to take itself
Too seriously or add up to snuff.
Good God, Woman, haven't you had enough

Of discomboobery, flotsam, falderal?
We can't always win them all.
What you've got is what I need.
It would be sublime, indeed.

Bowling alleys instead of tea?
I tried to teach you, but couldn't see
That you're contented, as you are.
A funny, gangly, goofy star.

When I get back, they'll make me pay.
I couldn't turn you into Doris Day,
With cheery smile upon your face.
Afraid you're still a hopeless case.

At the party social scene,
Tarted up to be the queen,
No one knows or really cares.
They just live to put on airs.

My dear Miss Grep, I think I see
That you are you and cannot be
Made to really make a fuss.
There's not much left here to discuss.

I'll see you at the bowling alley.
One less convert I can tally.
Contented in your two-tone shoes,
I guess we always get to choose.

My Turn

6/17/2026

What mark was made?
The bloom in fade.
Anyone remember
Last September?

As I pass through,
Moving to pursue
A wispy thread of focus
Pulled from an inner locus.

Those along the way,
Many words they had to say.
Different paths to pick and choose
Whether to win or win to lose.

My shadow cools a place
So fine across your loving face.
And in your eyes I see
Some thoughts we can agree.

Perhaps I've taught you to be kind
Or how to stretch your able mind.
Maybe I've learned something too,
A way to see I never knew.

The days they come and go.
Who we've touched, we never know.
In the end, prints in the grass
Have left a path for you to pass.

I won't be there, but still I'll know
What I have left somehow bestow
A little dent made on this earth
And in the end, is all it's worth.

She breezes through the door,
Never mind cleaning the floors.
I'm wondering what's her game.
Making up her nanny name.

Shiny, Aggie eyes
Always philosophise.
Young children in her nest.
She wants to do what's best.

We chose her nanny parts,
A game of throwing darts.
And now it's come to pass,
So full of vim and sass.

Then there's little Anne,
Always an Also Ran.
You'll leave me. Yes, you will.
Nanny loves you, even still.

The years massaging time
Warm hearts and open minds.
Together in the nest.
One day, a last request.

That day has come around.
All grown by leaps and bounds.
Her job here, now, is done.
Their new lives have begun.

To reassembly back she goes.
Where she falls, nobody knows.
To love, then come apart.
Alone with open heart.

Now listen, Jerry.
Listen good.
I'm no dummy,
Piece of wood.

I got plans.
I got dreams.
I got sawdust
In my seams.

Get one thing straight.
Your plans will have to wait.
When we're onstage,
We serve it on a plate.

Let's have some fun.
Lights and laughter
Make my motor run.
A silver bullet from a hired gun.

The thoughts that rattle
In your childish head,
Leave you lonely,
Filled with dread.

I'm alone
Again with you.
Self doubt, indulgence,
Hootchie Coo.

Now they're calling
For the Second Act.
They say like minds
Always attract.

Let's get out there
And show em how.

Then I'll gladly
Knit your brow.

Jerry, Willy,
Goofy too..

Who can tell
Who's using Who?

I've got your back,
Forever more.

With both feet planted
On the floor.

For Good and All

I come in peace.
I mean no harm.
Get off your knees.
Don't be alarmed.

My will is strong.
Intentions good.
The way you're headed,
I thought I should.

I know you're doubtful.
I see you're scared.
No good ever comes from
Out of thin air.

I want to help you.
Please let me try.
If you rebuke me,
I will know why.

No one trusts
The wandering man.
What does he want?
What's in his plans?

Close every window.
Lock all your doors.
Turn off the porch lights.
Get on the floors.

Maybe he'll wander
To another star.
Wherever he goes,
Still, here we are.

Wait a minute.
Here me out.
This one really
Gives me clout.

I first heard it.
I was there.
Made me whistle
In my chair.

I first saw it
Before another.
Don't believe me?
Ask your mother.

I created
All you see.
I invented
History.

Listen up.
Listen good.
Wouldn't jive you
If I could.

When I really
Tell a tale.
Tall as trees
Big as whales,

You'll no longer
Want me around.
While I'm ten feet
Off the ground.

I'll rise above it.
Watch me go.
Higher higher.
Who you know.
