There's no time like the present,
Though the past ticks effervescent. Fizzy, buzz and bubbly. Nothing brash and ugly. I like to see it clear, Through a shiny, bright veneer, Polished on the shelf. I buff it up myself. Today's just not the same. This life, no more a game Of tag and hide and seek. Still, a paycheck every week To bring home to the wife. They say it's a lucky life, That puts dinner on the table. Steady, secure and stable. Though sometimes, what's expected, Clouds a life that's unreflected. Then, the angle of the mind Finds a comfortable unwind. I can replay it all. Memories dance and call. We could run and laugh and sing Without disturbing anything. But, I should accept today. The past must go away And run off home to dinner, Then sleep within my childish inner, Who knocks, occasionally, At the door. To bring me something I left before. 8/17/26 ZONE S4E15
