Cineraria
Cineraria, Double dare ya. This cheap hysteria Has got to end. You’ll get the bends If you must rush. Put aside that mush And gently, calmly, slowly hush Your words and movements Toward evolved improvements. You’ll grow into them. Cut loose and let out the hem. Flash something new. Mature composure Isn’t after you, But you might meet Half way. And on that day Find something more Than cute to say. You’ll find You can appreciate this world Without legs smugly curled Beneath you From insults hurled By cardboard people With eyes to To peephole. As it may, I won’t get wound up If you choose to stay And eat your meals on a tv tray, In sweats and dirty hair. Forever with an air of grace. Even if it doesn’t always Brush across your face. 2/26/21
