Sordid splendor.
Night descender. Votive vendor. Deed pretender On a bender. Safe surrender. My contender. Will defender. Prickly demon. I don’t see one Milking freon From the fray. Frozen fellows in disarray. Dressed in morose Hues of wool. Don’t be a fool. Fix your hair. Straighten your collar. Here’s a dollar For a shine. What once was mine, Now open for all. Wasps have the gall To leave a sting, A flitting wing And flirty duty. What a beauty, This formal dance, A wandering waltz with elephants In ballrooms of covered mirrors And pleated pants. 7/13/21
