Down We go,
Friend or Foe. Toe to toe. Precious cargo. Big baby on board. Find the right chord. As chairman of the ward, I won’t be ignored. Unconsciously uncoupled Harmoniously hobbled Feelings, soft and supple, Callously bobbled. Same tune across the dial. Heard from you after awhile. I sensed the brightness of your smile Fading from your kitchen tile. Calmly, cooly, do the dance, Drift away, no backward glance. Same in kind. I must abide. Slow and gentle as my stride. For if our steps should make a sound, House lights go up and curtains down. We’re in the open without a stitch, Afraid to claim who’s shirt is which. I tried and failed to be direct. Defensive, virtuous, circumspect. Came back to lay the blame on me. Leaves me now, this eulogy. 1/16/22
